WILCO

Go here and listen to the London show.
Wow! Can't wait for the Greek!

A little over a week ago, I was fortunate enough to travel to Maui for a couple days of relaxation and to spend some time with C. Although I have been to Maui and the ainas over 25 times, this most recent trip was one of the most memorable and special trips yet.

For 4 days, I spent as much time in the ocean as possible. I was able to get in at least 3-5 hours of each day in the water, and even rented a board to paddle out. The fact that C already knows how to surf was a major plus and we enjoyed small surf off of Lahaina. Just paddling and catching to stoke was epic.

This most recent trip to Maui convinced me that I need to get out there sooner than later and there is truly no place on earth like Hawaii!

(I can spends hours just writing about this trip but work is calling me!)

I can't believe that there are coyotes in Golden Gate Park!
WTF??? Since I have lived in SF, 8 years have been spent within 3 blocks of GGP. I had no clue that there were still coyotes in the park. Growing up in SoCal, we used to have coyotes all over my neighborhood, but I never thought they would still live in San Francisco!

I've been very inconsistent lately with keeping things updated here, but with Summer in full swing, I am going to do my best to post often.

I just got back from a 5 day trip to Los Angeles. Had my recheck swim and had to sit through an entire day of new procedures, protocols, etc...Regardless, it was great to get my toes in the sand, and my red trunks on. After the Recheck, I ended up donating blood in our annual blood drive and got a few of my friends to come in and do the same. DONATE BLOOD FOLKS!

Thursday events led to a busy and hectic Friday trying to get everything done that I needed to in order to work on the beach. Ended up driving through Los Angeles all day and running around like a chicken with my head cut off. Good thing it was only 100 degrees all day! Got to meet some bros and headed out for a swim and workout in the late afternoon. As we walked out onto the beach, a beach patron asked if we were lifeguards because she witnessed a girl that was "passing out" at the snack stand. Tyler and I went to the scene to find a 15 year old French girl that was severely dehydrated and suffering from heat exhaustion. There's nothing like working, when you aren't supposed to be working. We ended up helping the on-duty guards while the we waited to transport the girl to a hospital. Needless to say, without even officially being on duty, the weekend was off to a good start.

I also got to see my friend Mark and Emily and their son Jack and for the first time, I met Katie. She is 5 weeks old and already super cute. Some babies at her age can look like aliens, but I can honestly say that she was adorable. Great to see some friends that I wouldn't easily see on the beach.

On Saturday I worked Torrance beach, where there was some surf and grips of heads at the beach. Made several "wet prevents" and had to splint up a guy with a pretty gnarly broken arm.

Sunday was at 2nd Street Hermosa Beach where it felt like a busy 4th of July instead of a casual Sunday. Didn't have to hit the water, but had to make several preventions and was on my feet all day. Ended up running around the entire South Bay trying to wrap up some loose ends before I had to jump in my car for a 7 hour drive home. About 4 hours into my drive, traffic came to a sudden, screeching stop. An accident occurred about 30-40 cars in front of me, but it blocked the entire I-5 northbound lanes. With no place to go, everybody turned off their engines and the highway became a parking lot for over an hour. Having my binoculars with my rescue equipment, I checked out the scene from a distance and can tell immediately that the accident was severe. After about 1.5 hours of not moving, the CHP finally diverted traffic through the center divide to get around the accident seen. Unfortunately, it was a fatal accident and the horror of the scene will leave a lasting impression on me for the rest of my life.

Although I didn't get home until the early morning hours today, I can truly say that I had an EPIC weekend and anytime I get to work on the beach is a good day!

Back in the Day...
